We start the mornings warm, in the upper 70s to low 80 in metro St. Louis, and we heat up quickly. Temperature highs will be in the upper 90s to low 100s and peak heat index values of 105-110 in the afternoons. An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued through Friday. You're urged to drink plenty of water. Stay in an air-conditioned space and out of the sun during peak heating hours, noon to 5:00 p.m. Take extra precautions if you work outside. SHREWSBURY, Mo. -- The Archdiocese of St. Louis is holding a conference on Saturday, July 29 at 9 a.m. to discuss gun violence. The one-day summit will be held at the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, Missouri.The Archdiocese said in a press release, “Thoughts and prayers are not enough. An Amber Alert for a missing two-month-old girl has been canceled after the infant was found safe.No details about where the girl, who was taken Tuesday evening from a relative’s home in Pueblo West, was found were released in the Thursday morning bulletin.A tweet from the Pueblo County Sheriff noted the girl’s mother, Ashley Ardolino, was taken into custody.Two-month old Elsy Ardolino has been located and is safe. Eagle County searchers have recovered the body of a missing 32-year-old man from Mexico who was rafting on the Colorado River and swept away.Searchers found the body of a man identified by the Eagle County Coroner as Isaac Montano Rivera, from Chihuahua, Mexico, near Lyons Gulch, north of Dotsero, Eagle County Sheriff officials announced Thursday in a news release.Rivera went missing Sunday afternoon after an accident along the river near the Cottonwood Boat Ramp. A group of people was trying to save rafters who’d fallen into the river when rescuers initially reached the scene. One man was pulled from the water, resuscitated, and transferred to a hospital. But Rivera could not be found.Since Sunday, searchers have used boats and kayaks, and dog teams looking along the banks of the river. They also deployed an aerial drone and sonar technology in their efforts to find him, officials said. A sixth bus from Texas carrying asylum seekers arrived in Los Angeles Thursday morning, organizers said.The bus carrying 36 migrants coming from Brownsville, Texas arrived at Union Station around 8:50 a.m., according to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles.Thirteen children were among the group who had come from Honduras, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.The L.A. 60-Year-Old Victim Killed after ATV Collision near Curry Road 1CLOVIS, NM (July 27, 2023) – Thursday evening, an ATV accident near Curry Road 15 claimed the life of Jeffery Joe Ward.The incident happened on July 20th, at around 7:00 p.m., near the intersection of Curry Road 15 and Curry Road 1.For reasons currently unknown, Ward became trapped under a four-wheel ATV that left him with serious injuries.Emergency crews were dispatched to the site of the crash shortly after.
