DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — City documents released Wednesday show engineers and city officials visited a Davenport building nearly a dozen times in the months before it partially collapsed on Sunday. (AP) — Federal courts have issued desegregation orders for 32 school districts in Mississippi, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division’s assistant attorney general said Thursday. The desegregation orders fit into a broader body of civil rights work launched in Mississippi that is examining jails, police departments and hate crimes in the state, according to Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. (KDVR) — Police were searching Thursday afternoon for an inmate who escaped from the Adams County jail in Brighton.The inmate, Jared Sheppard, is described as a white man with brown hair and blue eyes. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds, according to the Brighton Police Department. Sheppard, 39, was last seen wearing an orange and white striped jumpsuit with shackles. (KDVR) — A Brighton teacher experienced an incredible case of lost and found when she went back to her alma mater.Melissa Brassington showed up at Brighton High School nearly 22 years after her graduation to train as a substitute teacher. Demolition crews began dismantling what was left of a more than century-old home in Brockton Thursday, hours after a fire devoured the home and spread to a building next door. Two suspects are wanted after attacking a man in downtown Boston with a machete. The incident took place around Tremont Street and Temple Place on Tuesday, May 23 around 9 a.m.The adult male victim was seriously injured but is expected to survive.
