Stanford’s Haley Jones has declared for the 2023 WNBA Draft.The 2021 Final Four Most Outstanding Player for the national championship-winning Cardinal and two-time All-American was one of 76 players that declared, which the league announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. Another Stanford player, Ashten Prechtel, also declared.Jones, 21, grew up in Santa Cruz and went to high school at San Jose’s Archbishop Mitty, where she was a three-time Bay Area News Group player of the year.Stanford’s season ended in the second round of this year’s NCAA Tournament in a shocking 54-49 loss to Ole Miss. Two men who attended Bellarmine College Preparatory High School in the 1960s and 1970s have filed separate lawsuits against the school and Roman Catholic authorities alleging they were sexually assaulted as students by a Jesuit school official who insisted on giving them unwarranted hernia checks.The lawsuits were filed late last year by California men now in their 60s identified only as John Roe and John Roe 1. NAPA COUNTY, Calif. (KRON) -- A man was arrested on Friday after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars of wine in order to guarantee a paycheck, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Woman arrested for driving wrong way at 100 mph on Bay Bridge Jose Humberto Martinez was arrested by sheriff's deputies on charges of grand theft on Friday. The week before, Martinez had been fired from shipping company Go Express, a subsidiary of GLS, a winery employee tells KRON4. After Martinez was fired, he reportedly stole a van from his former employer and then drove to a local winery. He provided a false name to pickup a wine shipment, the winery employee said. (KRON) -- A Bay Area mother and son led police on a high-speed chase from American Canyon, to Vallejo, to Richmond, according to investigators. Eddy Perez, 41, of San Pablo, and his 66-year-old mom, Janet Perez, were booked into a Napa County jail following the chase, the American Canyon Police Department stated.The incident began at 4:30 p.m. Sunday when ACPD officers pulled over a black Chevy Impala with no license plates on Highway 29 near Poco Way. "The driver refused to identify himself or provide a driver’s license to officers during the stop, claiming he was a sovereign citizen, and that he did not have to comply with officer’s directions, or laws of the government," ACPD wrote.
