3M Co has reached a $10.3 billion national settlement with public water systems to resolve water pollution claims tied to “forever chemicals,” the Maplewood-based company announced on Thursday.The company said the settlement provides funding for water systems across the country for PFAS treatment technologies without the need for further litigation, including funding for mitigating contamination that may be detected in the future.It also resolves current and future multi-district litigation, based in Charleston, S.C., over drinking water contamination claims related to the use of firefighting foam that contained the chemicals.It also provides funding for nationwide testing for PFAS.3M, which is facing thousands of lawsuits over PFAS contamination, did not admit liability, and said the money will help support remediation at public water systems that detect PFAS “at any level.”Lawyers for cities and towns that had sued 3M over PFAS contamination did not immedia...New immigration office welcomes new citizens

LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An O'Fallon, Missouri, mother is desperately trying to find her 14-year-old son, who she said escaped with two other juveniles from the Missouri Hills Youth Center Tuesday.St. Louis County police said there's an active search for three juveniles.Stacy Breeding, who did not wish to go on-camera, said her son has been at the center since Saturday."I had received a phone call Tuesday evening informing me that my son, along with two other juveniles, had ran from the facility. ST. LOUIS - An investigation is underway after police say a child accidentally shot himself Thursday afternoon in north St. Louis. The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. in the 5200 block of Wells Avenue in the Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood. Woman charged with ramming, shooting thieves who stole sister’s car Police say a boy accidentally shot himself and suffered a graze wound to the knee. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Based on preliminary reports, investigators say a cousin of the victim was loading a weapon and left it on the bed. The child then picked up the weapon and accidentally shot himself. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is handling the investigation. LOUIS - A Hazelwood, Missouri, man was indicted Wednesday in federal court in connection with a fatal shooting at a gas station in Cool Valley earlier this year.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Christopher "Face" Hall, 22, and another man, Bryant "BJ" Pirtle, shot and killed Devon Williams around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2023, outside the BP gas station in the 1700 block of South Florissant Road.Williams was attempting to purchase marijuana from Hall and Pirtle when the two men shot him. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois will extend its cocktails-to-go for at least five more years. Illinois first allowed cocktails-to-go in June 2020 as part of a pandemic-era law. This allowed restaurants and bars to provide carryout, curbside pickup and delivery of mixed drinks and single servings of wine for off-premises consumption. Gov.
