NBA Board of Governors approves Michael Jordan's sale of the Charlotte Hornets, AP source says CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — According to a person familiar with the situation, the NBA Board of Governors has voted to approve Michael Jordan’s sale of the Charlotte Hornets to an ownership group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Sunday on condition of anonymity because the sale won’t become official for at least another week. The decision ends Jordan’s 13-year run as majority owner of the underachieving franchise. ‘He’s still got a lot of personality in there’ – With help from many, Steve McMichael continues ALS fight and push for Hall of Fame Jordan will remain on as a minority owner. Jordan agreed to sell the team on June 16. However, when an NBA owner decides to sell, it first must be approved by the league’s Board of Governors. Jordan’s decision to sell leaves the NBA without a Black majority owner.

Deputy seen punching transgender man in L.A. County Surveillance footage from a 7-Eleven store in Whittier captured the violent arrest of a transgender man by a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department earlier this year.  The Feb. 10 incident occurred in the parking lot of the convenience store on Mills Avenue at around 12:30 p.m.  Footage of the arrest, which is difficult to watch, shows an LASD deputy, identified by the Los Angeles Times as Deputy Joseph Benza, pulling into the parking lot directly behind 23-year-old Emmet Brock’s black Honda Civic, blocking him in.  The deputy is then seen exiting his cruiser and approaching Brock as he was getting out of his Honda. Driver dies in hospital after Livermore two-car crash (BCN) -- A 59-year-old man died Friday after a two-car collision in Livermore, police said. A white GMC SUV was changing lanes when it collided with a black Subaru on East Avenue at Mitra Street about 3:20 p.m., police said Saturday in a social media posting. DC police investigate double homicide in Columbia Heights A search for suspects is underway after two men were shot and killed in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Northwest D.C., Saturday night.According to police, first responders were called to the 1400 block of Girard Street in Northwest around 10 p.m. on reports of a shooting.On the scene, officers found one male shooting victim at the reported location. A spokesperson for the department told WTOP that, moments later, officers were flagged down to assist a second male victim roughly a block away, near the intersection of 14th and Fairmount Streets.Police said both victims were unconscious and not breathing when officers arrived. First responders with D.C. Fire and EMS were unable to revive either victim and both were pronounced dead at the scene.The department said an investigation into the double homicide is ongoing.The approximate location of the shooting is below.WTOP’s Ivy Lyons contributed to this report.Source
