DENVER (KDVR) — E-bikes are still a popular commodity across the Front Range. Denver's e-bike program has sold out within minutes. Wednesday morning, the state of Colorado's Energy Office launched its e-bike rebate program. The system crashed initially, but it was back up shortly after that. This vehicle type is the top choice for airport thieves — and it's not Kia or Hyundai Many are excited about the state's income-qualified rebate program, but one e-bike shop owner hopes the state learns from an issue he said Denver has not solved yet.Kenny Fischer of FattE-Bikes knows a lot about electric bicycles and rebate programs to get them."We are actually Denver's first locally born, electric bike company. You can’t see Pink Floyd play “Dark Side of the Moon” for its 50th anniversary, since Floyd leaders Roger Waters and David Gilmour still hate each other too much. But you can see it done proud Friday at the Leader Bank Pavilion by Gov’t Mule, whose leader Warren Haynes is both a jam-band icon and a voracious music fan.“My musical taste goes all over the map,” he said this week. “It started with soul music, my earliest influences were James Brown and Otis Redding. But I was lucky to have two older brothers, who were not only music nuts but record collectors as well. The first time I heard Pink Floyd was ‘Dark Side’ in 1973, and I loved it so much that I had to go backward and hear the rest. As with all the music that we choose to be influenced by, it’s timeless.”The first “Dark Side of the Mule” show happened at the Orpheum in Boston: It was Halloween in 2008, and the band honored its annual tradition of a surprise cover set. “We only meant to do it that one time, but there was deman...Editorial: Fugitive killer’s arrest reminds us why ICE is necessary

It’s a good thing Antonio Jose De Abreu Vidal Filho was caught in Rye, NH on Monday. If he had been in one of Massachusetts’ migrant havens such as Amherst, Cambridge, Chelsea, Concord, Newton, Northampton, Somerville or Boston, the ICE arrest of the multiple murderer might not have been such a slam dunk.Filho, one of the world’s most wanted illegal immigrants, had escaped a 275-year prison sentence in his native Brazil before Boston ICE agents busted him.To hear progressives tell it, illegal immigrants are all good people who want a better life for themselves and their families. Most are – but it’s the ones who bring their criminal pasts with them across the border that make vigilance necessary. As the Herald reported, Interpol had a Red Notice on Filho, listing him as wanted for murder, attempted murder, physical torture and mental torture. The former Brazilian military police officer was sentenced for 11 murders after defecting, Brazilian newspaper El Globo ...Adair: Increased security a must for election workers

A county election worker in Oregon recently found himself in an unsettling situation during his rounds collecting ballots from drop boxes. A disgruntled woman, driving erratically, had been following him for hours. As the situation escalated, the woman began shouting that she had a gun and would continue filming him doing his job. Unfortunately, this election worker is not alone. One in six local elections officials in America have experienced threats while on the job. The dedicated citizens who keep our elections running smoothly face an increasingly hostile political environment. While they’ve repeatedly sounded the alarm about the need for increased security funding, their calls for help have mostly fallen on deaf ears.Election workers serve on the front lines of our democracy, helping to ensure every American can exercise their freedom to vote. They do the often thankless work while acting as facilitators of our elections — from collecting ballots from drop boxes to opening polli...Lucas: Transportation hires kick political drama into high gear

If Gov. Maura Healey did not have enough on her plate, she may now have State Auditor Diana DiZoglio to worry aboutIt is not that the active state auditor is conducting a special audit of the governor’s office, as she is attempting to do with the Massachusetts Legislature.DiZoglio is auditing everybody. She is conducting performance audits of all state agencies in relation to the use, or misuse, of severance settlements and non-disclosure agreements, (NDAs), over the past 12 years. It is just that, according to a Boston Globe story last week, DiZoglio appeared to have singled out the Healey administration and respected veteran transportation official Thomas P. Glynn, a close Healey advisor.Glynn is currently Healey’s chairman of the MBTA board of directors. The Globe story implied that Glynn was a target of the investigation over his separation policies for terminated workers at Massport when he headed the agency from 2012 to 2018.DiZoglio denied it. “No, absolutely not,” DiZoglio sa...Latest news
