The crowd of family and friends around Gervon Dexter was screaming so loudly when Matt Eberflus took over the Chicago Bears cellphone that it took a couple of tries to exchange greetings.Eventually Dexter, the Florida defensive tackle the Bears drafted in the second round Friday night, delivered his message to his new coach.“I’m ready, man,” Dexter said in the conversation captured on video. “I promise, I’m ready.”Eberflus replied: “I know you will be. That’s right. You’ve just got to get your track shoes on, brother.”That last line has become an Eberflus refrain over the last 16 months as he greets new players and lets them know they need to be in shape and ready to go hard when they report for workouts. For a group of new players that includes Dexter, that starts at rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday as the Bears look at their 10 draft picks and a slew of undrafted free agents and tryout players. For the last four months s...Two men stabbed during fight in downtown Toronto; Suspect in custody

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday he was convinced that Russian President Putin would face an international war crimes court when Ukraine wins the war that has been raging for over a year. In a speech titled “No Peace without Justice for Ukraine” given in The Hague, the city that hosts the International Criminal Court, Zelenskyy said that Putin “deserves to be sentenced for these criminal actions right here in the capital of the international law.”“And I’m sure we will see that happen when we win. And we will win,” he said. The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for Putin for alleged war crimes in Ukraine, relating to the abduction of children. The ICC cannot prosecute the crime of war aggression itself. Zelenskyy’s speech was an appeal for a full-fledged tribunal to prosecute that overarching crime, a heart-felt plea for a special tribunal for aggression.“If we want true justice, we should not look for excuses and...Canadian Press NewsAlert: Shopify to reduce workforce by 20%, sell logistics business

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary’s populist prime minister likened liberalism to a “virus” in an opening speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in the Hungarian capital on Thursday, painting a picture of a global right-wing movement mobilizing to defeat “progressive elites.” Viktor Orban’s speech at CPAC Hungary centered around battling what he frequently described as “woke culture,” and delved primarily into hot-button cultural topics such as transgender and LGBTQ+ rights, migration and the content of education for children. The two-day conference, the second in Hungary in as many years, featured segments titled “Make Kids Not War” and “No Country for Woke Men.” A sign over the entrance to the venue, a conference hall on the Danube River, read, “No Woke Zone.”After receiving a standing ovation, Orban said Hungary had become “world-famous” for its hard-line migration and cultural policies, and offered those in attendance a recipe for implementing a simila...Italian philosopher Ordine wins prestigious Spanish award

(NEXSTAR) — Your mother brought you into this world, raised you, and worked tirelessly to support your dreams and passions throughout your entire life. The least you can do is buy her some eggs.Just in time for Mother’s Day, the analysts at Yelp have scoured their national databases in an attempt to determine the 100 best-reviewed brunch restaurants on the platform. This year, restaurants in 34 different states made the list, meaning that (hopefully), you won’t have to drag mom too far for eggs benny or mimosas.Coming in at No. 1 — with a 4.5-star rating out of over 1,600 reviews — is Café Kacao in Oklahoma City, which specializes in Latin American cuisine alongside classic brunch staples and coffee drinks. The Comfort Café in San Antonio nabbed the No. 2 spot, thanks in part to its homestyle brunch dishes offered on a pay-what-you-can basis in support of the addiction recovery program operated by its parent organization.
