HAYWARD — A shooting Sunday afternoon killed a Hayward resident and left police looking for the suspect, authorities said.Officers responded to the 400 block of Berry Avenue about 2:45 p.m. and found the victim with more than one gunshot wound, according to a statement from Hayward police spokesperson Officer Cassondra Fovel.The 55-year-old was dead at the scene. Authorities did not identify him Monday afternoon, pending notification of relatives.Police said they have not made any arrests in the shooting’s aftermath. The homicide is the ninth one investigated by Hayward police this year.Police asked anyone with information to contact Det. Green at 510-293-7176.This is a developing report. OAKLAND — A 30-year-old Bay Area man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating his parole by possessing pistols that were found in his Lexus during a homicide investigation, court records show.Donald Everett Parks Jr., of Oakland, was sentenced Oct. 20 by Judge Thomas Stevens, after admitting he had violated his parole. After factoring in credit for time served and good behavior credits, Parks could be released within the next 20 days, court records show.Parks had been out of prison barely a month when was arrested shortly after midnight on Oct. 2, in connection with the killing of 26-year-old Anthony Sneede. DALY CITY – A man already in prison for violent sexual crimes was convicted Friday in the slaying of a 19-year-old Peninsula woman that was part of the gruesome “Gypsy Hill Killings,” officially closing a case that took nearly half a century.Leon Melvin Seymour, 77, who has been in custody as an inmate-patient at Coalinga State Hospital for kidnapping and sexual assault convictions dating back to the 1970s, was officially convicted Friday after an 18-day trial. Seymour, who is housed as a sexually violent predator, was kept in custody at San Mateo County Medical Center during the trial.He was deemed responsible for the April 1976 stabbing death of 19-year-old Denise Lampe, who was found dead inside her car in the parking lot of the Macy’s at Serramonte Mall, where she worked. (KRON) – The Walnut Creek Police Department announced Monday it is looking for an at-risk senior, David Oberweiser. Oberweiser is described as an 84-year-old white man with grey hair. (BCN) --The Richmond Fire Department has given the all-clear to residents in Shasta Street and Carlson Boulevard area, after Monday's morning gas leak was stopped. The Richmond Fire HazMat team performed atmospheric air monitoring in the affected area and said at 12:38 p.m. the area is all clear and residents can return to their homes. The leak was caused by a construction crew in the area accidentally rupturing a natural gas line. PG&E crews were on scene.
