Capital Cup for Kids packet pickup takes place CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Packet pickup for the Capital Cup for Kids hockey event took place Thursday. The fundraiser will take place at the Capital Arena in Clifton Park from April 25 to April 30. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! More than 400 players on 28 teams will be competing for the cup this year. Players picked up their fundraising packets on Thursday and met some of the kids who are honorary captains during the event. It raises money for several organizations, including Building on Love and Make a Wish of Northeastern New York. The event has a fundraising goal of $175,000.

DeSoto residents asked to stay alert for flash flooding DESOTO, Mo. - Before the rainfall began, DeSoto city manager Todd Melkus said the city was prepared to notify residents of evacuations, if necessary. The city has an emergency notification system that can contact residents who have registered for the service.Melkus said that the city is also prepared to go door to door to ensure that anyone facing flooding has enough time to evacuate. Oxnard man found guilty on 2 murder charges, 3 robbery charges stemming from 2017 crime spree A jury found a man from Oxnard guilty on Thursday of two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree robbery for a crime spree that took place in 2017. David Flores, 25, was found responsible for the shooting deaths of Aaron Austin and Eduardo Viveros, along with two other accomplices who have previously pled guilty. On May 16, 2017, police found Aaron Austin with four gunshot wounds in front of an apartment complex on North G Street in Oxnard. He was pronounced dead at the Ventura County Medical Center. On the same day, Eduardo Viveros was shot three times by Flores. 34-year-old Fontana cold murder case solved; suspect arrested in Wisconsin  A 63-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a murder of a man in Fontana that occurred 34 years ago. Angel Martinez was reported missing on June 8, 1988, after he was expected to meet with individuals in Fontana but never arrived, the City of Fontana Police Department said. On June 20, 1988, Martinez’s body was found in La Paz County, Arizona. The La Paz County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation led them back to Fontana, where the case went cold until this year. According to a Facebook post by the City of Fontana Police Department, several rounds of forensic testing were conducted by multiple investigators and on March 1, murder charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued for 63-year-old Kelvin Keith Emmons. A Fontana Police Department Cold Case Detective and a DA Investigator traveled to De Pere, Wisconsin on March 15, where they were assisted by the De Pere Police Department in locating and arresting Emmons. (KRON) -- Crews are searching for a missing surfer off the coast of a Pacifica beach, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed to KRON4. The surfer in distress off the coast of Linda Mar Beach was first reported by the North County Fire Authority at 6:48 p.m. Thursday on Twitter. The coast guard tells KRON4 that another surfer witnessed the missing surfer go down under the water and not come back up.
