Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 16:46:40 GMT

Cory Joseph has never been the type of player to worry about his role or playing time heading into a new season.“The way I think is I let it all take care of itself,” Joseph said Tuesday afternoon. “I try to help the team win games. It’s a blessing to be in this league and I don’t take that lightly.”Joseph’s team-first mentality and 12 years of NBA experience are part of what made him an attractive free-agent target for the Warriors, who officially signed the 31-year-old to a one-year, veteran minimum contract on July 6.Joseph is expected to be a third-string guard, who will back up Stephen Curry and Chris Paul, similar to the role two-way guard Ty Jerome played behind Curry and Jordan Poole last season. But Joseph said exactly how the Warriors envision he’ll be deployed this season wasn’t the focal point of his conversations with the organization leading up to his signing. In his mind, this season is “all about winning.R...

But having sat in the traffic jam for hours as I tried to navigate a route from San Anselmo to Oakland, I considered what other crises, mental or physical, could have resulted from the gridlock. Emergency vehicles unable to get through, a woman in labor, with complications, road rage with someone carrying a gun in the car … please plan ahead. Have a plan to prevent the gridlock that blocked every road that night.I’m glad the person in distress was saved. I just hope the person can get a mental health appointment.Penny RighthandOakland988 observes yearof helping in crisesJuly 16 marks one year since our nation transitioned to 988, the easy-to-remember, nationwide mental health...

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado police officer on trial for putting a handcuffed woman in a parked police vehicle that was hit by a freight train testified Tuesday that she did not realize the officer who had arrived before her had parked it on the tracks. After racing to the scene, Officer Jordan Steinke said, she quickly parked her patrol vehicle behind the other one and got out because it was the quickest way “to get a gun in the fight” — hers. She explained that she was suprised the other officer was still sitting in his vehicle. Steinke also said she did not notice the tracks or the ground when she squatted down to arrest a kneeling Yareni Rios-Gonzalez after the suspect was ordered out of her pickup truck. The tracks and railroad crossing signs can be seen in her body camera video from the Sept. 16, 2022, incident. When pressed by Deputy District Attorney Christopher Jewkes, Steinke replied “I am sure I saw the tracks sir, but I did not perceive them.” She explained that she w...
