In March of 2021, we learned that the Navy Pier IMAX theater would be closing for good. Now we know more about what is going in its place.FlyOver Chicago is a $40 million attraction that will take guests on an immersive flying journey through the city of Chicago. The multi-sensory experience will feature three levels of seating that moves along with the video footage on a giant 65-foot screen. Wind and other effects will give riders an even greater feeling that they are actually flying. And yes, Disney World fans, you can compare this ride to the very popular flying attraction "Soarin'" at Epcot.Right now the team from FlyOver is hard at work converting the former IMAX theater to fit this new attraction. In June, they will take their drone cameras to the skies of Chicago to shoot the video footage that will be featured on the ride. Once they have the final cut, programming can begin to make sure the ride vehicles move along with the footage. The FlyOver team expects the attraction t...Ruff trip: Discarded joints pose a danger for dogs

NEW YORK (AP) — Bondi, an 8-month-old toy poodle, had just returned from a walk when he began stumbling. His head wobbled and soon he could barely stand, so his owner, Colleen Briggs, rushed him to the vet.The good doctor quickly made a diagnosis: Bondi was stoned. On his walk, a sniff must have led Bondi to a discarded joint, which he ate.“He was just doing his usual — exploring everything, sniffing everything,” said Briggs, who began to notice the pot shops sprouting up around New York City, the frequent whiffs of marijuana while circling her Manhattan neighborhood and the unfinished joints now littering sidewalks. In places like New York City, where the first legal recreational pot dispensary opened last year, users can smoke it in the open. As a result, more dogs are coming across — and eating — discarded joints and edibles, prompting alarm among veterinarians and pet owners who blame the steep rise in poisonings on smokers oblivious to the harm they can do by littering.Marijuana ...Next severe risk comes Thursday

Cinco de Mayo, that celebration of all things Mexico, is one of my favorite holidays, because it usually involves tacos and tequila, two things I am frequently in the mood for.But tacos aren’t the only Mexican food I’m in love with — in fact, there’s little in the way of food from our southern neighbor that I won’t eat.So this year, I decided to offer you a smattering of my favorite Mexican dishes in town, from some of my most-frequented restaurants. If you’re looking to change things up, maybe give some of these dishes a try!Machete at Taco LibreThe Machete at Taco Libre, Dec. 10, 2019. (Nancy Ngo / Pioneer Press)This local chain of restaurants started less than a mile from my house, and I’ve been a fan since day one. I’ve tried most of the menu, but I always come back to the machete — a giant, house-made tortilla (seriously, it’s the size of a manhole cover), stuffed with meat, lettuce, crema and melty Oaxaca cheese. It’s like a cross between a taco and a quesadilla, a...98.3 TRY Social Dilemma: My Neighbors Are Upset About My Trash Cans

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma is about neighbors and trash. Here's the email: Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime, I have a social dilemma for you. I like to roll my trash and recycle bins to the street earlier in the day for a few reasons. One is that I go to bed early for my job and two, so I don’t forget. Last week I was outside pulling weeds and my neighbors across the street came over and asked me to not put the cans out so early. They said they didn’t like looking out their window and seeing the trash cans. They even went so far as to say that sometimes, my trash is overflowing a bit, and that is really ugly to see. I don’t think I should have to worry about that. I have garbage...it goes in the garbage can, which then goes to the end of my driveway to be picked up! Should I wait until later to put out my cans or keep doing what I do? It's not like the trash is flying all over the pla...Vandals strike cemetery months after 200 headstones damaged

BENNINGTON, N.Y. (News10)-An historic Bennington cemetery that suffered damage to 200 headstones in October has once again been struck by vandals. This time, police say they have identified the suspects. As News10’s Anya Tucker reports, the chief of police is offering a chance for restorative justice to the accused youths with an opportunity to help cleanup and repair the gravesites. Bennington Police Chief Paul Doucette, Jr. showed Anya the damage at the Morgan Street Cemetery, saying the vandals used a pole to push over the headstones. "Knocking them over. You can see where they have landed on top of the grass,” he told her. This is unfortunately not the first time his officers have responded to the cemetery for this kind of destruction. In October, approximately 200 headstones were toppled over and vandalized. Many of the stones mark Bennington, Vermont’s oldest gravesites- some belonging to children and veterans going back to the Revolutionary War era. After that act of ...Latest news
