By Jill Colvin and Tom Krisher | Associated PressDETROIT — As his Republican rivals gather onstage in California for their second primary debate, former President Donald Trump will be in battleground Michigan on Wednesday night working to win over blue-collar voters in the midst of an autoworkers’ strike. The Republican front-runner’s trip comes a day after President Joe Biden became the first sitting president in U.S. history to walk a picket line as he joined United Auto Workers in Detroit. The union is pushing for higher wages, shorter work weeks and assurances from the country’s top automakers that new electric vehicle jobs will be unionized. The dueling appearances preview what will likely be a chief dynamic of the 2024 general election, which increasingly looks like a rematch between Trump and Biden. Michigan is expected to again be a critical battleground state as both candidates try to paint themselves as champions of the working class.Trump’s decision ...San Jose: Man arrested on suspicion of assault, kidnapping of store employee

It appears that Angelina Jolie’s bitter custody battle with Brad Pitt is mostly behind her as the couple’s six children approach adulthood. She’s also ditched her prestigious, high-profile work as a goodwill ambassador and special envoy for the UN Refugee Agency. In a new phase phase of her life, the Academy Award-winning actor and director has made a home in New York City and has launched a new career as the head of a luxury fashion brand bearing her name, Vogue is reporting. In a new cover story for the magazine, Jolie doesn’t mention Pitt by name. She rarely has spoken about him since she filed for divorce in 2016 and accused him of being violent around their children in an infamous private plane ride from France to the United States.Still, Jolie appeared to reference Pitt when she admitted to Vogue: “I feel a bit down these days. I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way, which I don’t want to get into.”HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA – O...Should San Jose Sharks leverage cap space to help bail out Ottawa Senators?

SAN JOSE – General manager Mike Grier is hoping the San Jose Sharks can leverage some of their ample salary cap space this season, particularly when the NHL trade deadline approaches.Perhaps, though, there’s an opportunity for the Sharks to do something with that space right now.The Ottawa Senators are trying to sign restricted free agent center Shane Pinto to an extension but do not have the needed cap space at the moment to get a deal done. There have been reports that Pinto’s next contract might come in with an average annual value of just over $2 million, and the Senators, per CapFriendly, have less than $1 million at their disposal. To free up space, it’s been speculated that Ottawa might need to trade someone like forward Mathieu Joseph, who is in the second year of a four-year, $11.8 million deal. To consummate a trade, the Senators might need to throw in a good prospect or a high draft pick as a sweetener to make it work.Does it make sense for the Sharks to make such a move, ...Fairfield boys apprehended with police K-9 after reported shooting

LAGOA SANTA, Brazil (AP) — When Brazilian soccer player Paulinho scored a goal at the Tokyo Olympics, he celebrated by pointing an imaginary arrow at the flashing cameras as homage to a deity in his persecuted Afro-Brazilian faith – and taking aim at religious intolerance.Shortly after, he lost more than 10,000 followers on social media for his public gesture paying tribute to Oxóssi– a godly archer who uses his bow to hunt and feed the hungry. But he says he gradually gained new fans in his soccer-crazed South American country for representing his Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé and challenging religious intolerance. His religion has faced a rising tide of harassment, sometimes linked to Brazil’s fast spread of evangelical Christianity.“Some players ask me about my religion, they want to know what it’s like, … I always tell them, they listen. But it’s still a small minority in soccer,” the 23-year-old player for Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro said in an interview at his home outs...Declaran como “homicidio” muerte de bebé a principios de año en DC
