Denver weather: Evening storms ending ahead of warmer and drier weather

DENVER (KDVR) — Storms remain in Denver's weather forecast Saturday night ahead of much drier and warmer conditions moving in Sunday through the start of the workweek. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for central and eastern Colorado until 9 p.m. During this time, severe storms capable of producing large hail, damaging wind gusts, heavy rainfall and isolated tornadoes will be possible. Severe thunderstorm watch continues through 11 p.m. in southeast Colorado. Weather tonight: Strong, severe storms ending The threat of thunderstorms will continue to move east through the evening. Denver will be left with a few lingering showers, then a mainly cloudy sky with low temperatures falling to the 50s. A car went up in flames after crashing into a palm tree in a residential neighborhood in Southwest Miami-Dade, sending two people to the hospital.Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the crash in the area of South Meadow Lake Drive and Southwest 43rd Terrace in Kendall, at around 5:30 p.m., Thursday.Paramedics transported both victims to an area hospital, one as a trauma alert.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.7-on-7 tournament held in Miami as part of sports camp held by Rams’ Atwell

It was a weekend of sports and cheerleading in Miami to benefit a community.A 7-on-7 invitational featuring students from 12 high schools went down Saturday morning at Charles Hadley Park.The event was part of a weekend-long sports camp held by Miami native and Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Chatarius “Tutu” Atwell.“We’ve been out here. A workshop being held at the University of Miami in Coral Gables aims to teach aspiring students about journalism.On Saturday afternoon, 7News anchor Craig Stevens hosted a session as part of the Miami Montage, a two-week workshop that invites high school students to produce videos and blogs and develop a passion for journalism.“I’m much better prepared going forward. City of Miami Police held a tribute for fallen veteran police Officer Joel Perez.Police and members of the community honored the law enforcement veteran’s life with the Car, Bike Show and Sound Off event, held Saturday at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center.Proceeds will benefit the children Perez leaves behind.Perez died after an unexpected medical emergency back in February. SAN DIEGO -- The first supermoon of the year illuminated the night sky over San Diego on Monday. RANCHO SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- An elderly woman is dead and another injured after a two-alarm fire broke out in an East County home on Saturday, the San Diego Sheriff's Office said.Around 12:15 p.m., the San Miguel Fire Department was notified of the fire in the 9100 block of Lavell Street after smoke was noticed coming from behind the home, according to SDSO. Fire crews arrived shortly after, extinguishing the fire around 1 p.m.When crews were able to get inside the house, firefighters discovered an elderly woman in the second floor of the home. Deputies attempted to rescue her, however, they were pushed back by smoke and flames. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries in the fire and, unfortunately, was later pronounced dead on scene. NEW YORK (PIX11/AP) — A scooter-riding gunman who went on a random shooting spree across two New York City boroughs was arrested by the New York Police Department, officials said Saturday.A 25 year-old man was taken into custody without incident and his identity was not revealed by police, Assistant Police Chief Joseph Kenny said at a news conference.
