Heaton Camillo Limited is a UK company set up to provide fundraising and consulting services to entrepreneurs.
HC is run by Julian Costley who is also the course leader and senior consultant for the 1-2-3-4 Programme.
Julian Costley is an active angel investor and serves as a chairman or non-executive director on a number of boards. He was a Country Manager at Thomson Reuters, then created his own TV channel on BSB (later BSkyB), then held the role of CEO of France Telecom’s Globecast satellite company. After meeting venture capitalist Hermann Hauser in 1998, together they created E*TRADE UK, the UK’s first all-Internet stockbroking firm and effected a trade sale at the height of the dotcom boom.
Since then he has invested in 17 companies and became chairman/NED or adviser to many more focusing on the telecoms, media (TV and publishing on and offline), financial services, and consumer internet markets in UK, Netherlands, Scandinavia, France, Canada and China.
His core skills are: spotting great ideas, getting them funded, using his connections, experience, and mentoring skills to support the entrepreneur in accelerating growth, whilst doing everything he can to stop the business going bust!
He is an occasional lecturer/mentor/MBA course judge at London Business School, Said (Oxford University), EDHEC (Nice), UM (Barcelona), Skema Business School (Sophia Antipolis) and Deusto (San Sebastian).
Julian now lives back in the UK after 7 years in France. His interests/passions are his four children, design, sailing, tennis, and opera.
Matthew Cowan is a partner at law firm Bracher Rawlins LLP and head of the firm’s corporate and commercial department. Matthew contributes to the Crowdfunding Course by covering legal and structural issues such as SEIS/EIS investment relief, tax, shareholder agreements, company formation, executive share options schemes etc.
Having qualified as a solicitor in 1993, Matthew became a partner within four years of qualification.
Matthew has nearly two decades of experience advising global companies on corporate and commercial transactions with an emphasis on emerging technologies and e-business solutions. He has played a key role in the first flotation of an internet service provider in the UK and recently the AIM listing of a market leader UK and Indian SMS aggregator. Matthew has a long-standing client base and is a trusted adviser to his clients with an in depth knowledge of their business needs.
Matthew graduated with a BSc in Chemistry and Law and a BA in Law from Exeter University.
Ian Price Since raising investment funds is all about persuading investors to buy shares, Ian’s expertise in business psychology and the mindset required to encourage investors is invaluable and an essential part of securing funding.
A CEO turned business psychologist and author, Ian helps professionals and sales teams deliver growth by helping them to optimise their mindset. He runs Recludo Consulting under which he offers a range of business psychology services including sales performance, leadership and storytelling. He is also a co-founder of sales-mind which helps sales teams and professional services firms become more effective at selling by developing mental toughness i.e. focus, resilience and motivation.
Previously, he spent over 20 years in the telecoms and payments industry and was leader of three technology start-ups. In 2010 he completed a MSc in Organizational Behaviour at Birkbeck College.
